On Monday, during separate meetings with representatives of the British Oxfam, the Turkish AMODA, and the Field Medical Foundation, the Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah, discussed plans for humanitarian interventions and prospects for strengthening partnership in the governorate.

Undersecretary Miftah discussed with the Humanitarian Programs Officer of the Oxfam mission in the southern and eastern governorates, Mike Kosugi, the possibility of expanding the organization's interventions in the water and environmental sanitation sectors, in light of the severe shortage of potable water and the absence of a sanitation project in the city of Marib.

In another meeting, the Deputy Governor reviewed with the Director of Programs and Projects at the Turkish organization AMODA, Shaib Alton, the intervention plans for the year 2025, which include replacing the tents of the displaced with ready-made temporary housing (caravans), supporting the education sector by providing incentives to teachers, in addition to projects to improve the livelihoods of the most vulnerable groups.

Undersecretary Miftah also discussed with the Programs and Protection Officer at the Field Medical Foundation, Mustafa Bazara’a, and the Director of its office in Marib, Mohammed Reda, the mechanisms for expanding the partnership and reactivating support for the health sector, which faces major challenges as a result of the withdrawal of many humanitarian organizations due to the suspension of donor funding.

During the meetings, Undersecretary Miftah stressed that Marib Governorate hosts more than 62% of the displaced in Yemen, which has led to great pressure on public services and the host community.

He praised the efforts of humanitarian organizations, stressing the importance of expanding the scope of interventions and strengthening partnership to face the growing challenges.
