Explosion - Expressive
Several Houthi explosives experts were killed and injured in an explosion at a naval mine and boat-bombing factory in Al Hudaydah Governorate, western Yemen.
Local media outlets affiliated with the legitimate government in Hodeidah governorate quoted what it described as informed sources as saying that a number of Houthi experts, including a foreigner with Iraqi citizenship, were killed and others were injured in a violent explosion that rocked the Al-Kathib coast in Hodeidah city.
The sources added that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening near a military site used by the Houthi militia to prepare sea mines and launch explosive-laden attack boats. The incident occurred as the militia was about to launch an explosive-laden boat and send boats laden with mines to target cargo ships.
Sources reported that the explosion was the result of a technical error in the preparation of one of the explosives (sea mines), which resulted in the death of a number of experts, including an Iraqi expert, and the injury of others, who were later transferred to Al-Thawra Hospital in Hodeidah.
The explosion came shortly before the militia announced the resumption of its operations in the Red and Arabian Seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden against commercial vessels linked to Israel, in response, it claimed, to the ban on aid entering the Gaza Strip.
