Security Media: A girl was arrested on charges of killing her husband in Lahj

The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a 19-year-old girl on charges of killing her husband in Lahj Governorate (southern Yemen), in the latest domestic violence crime witnessed by the country that has been mired in war for a decade.

The Security Media said in a statement on Friday that the police of Tuban District in Lahj Governorate arrested the woman (D. R. D. S.) on charges of killing her husband (F. A. A. K.) by shooting him with a Tata pistol.

He explained that the criminal investigation and forensic evidence team inspected the crime scene and took all necessary measures to collect evidence at the crime scene and conduct investigations. The accused was also arrested and detained pending legal procedures in the case.

The statement indicated that the search, investigation, information gathering and evidence procedures are continuing until the circumstances and causes of the crime are revealed.

Yemen is witnessing a frightening increase in family murders in various governorates of the country, in one of the worst repercussions of the war that has been ongoing for ten years.
