11 people killed and injured in a passenger bus accident in Lahj

Eleven people were killed and injured in a passenger bus accident in Lahj Governorate (southern Yemen).

The Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior said that it received a report from the traffic police in Lahj Governorate stating that a passenger bus overturned on the main road the day before yesterday, leading to the death of five people and the injury of six others, in addition to material losses estimated at about 3 million riyals.

He added that the injured were transferred to hospitals in the temporary capital, Aden, to receive treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families for burial procedures.

Lahj Traffic Police attributed the unfortunate accident to the explosion of the bus's front tires while it was driving at high speed, which led to it swerving, losing control and overturning several times.

It is worth noting that Lahj Governorate came in third place last year in terms of the number of traffic accidents in the liberated governorates, recording 443 traffic accidents that killed 91 people and injured 700 others.
