About 12 people died today, Wednesday, as a result of a horrific traffic accident in Al-Jawf Governorate, northeast of the country.

Local sources said that about 12 expatriates were killed in a traffic accident that occurred in the car that was transporting them on the Al-Jawf desert road with a heavy transport truck.

The sources explained that the accident occurred on the desert road in Al-Jawf Governorate, which travelers take as an alternative route after the Houthi militia closed the main roads for about ten years.

Alternative roads in Al-Jawf and Marib governorates witness frequent traffic accidents, due to the lack of maintenance of alternative roads used by travelers, in addition to drivers being exposed to the risk of death due to the explosion of Houthi mines in the region.

Traffic accidents claim the lives of civilians in Yemen, as a result of excessive speed, lack of maintenance of main roads, and the spread of potholes and bumps on various roads.

A Yemeni official in the Yemeni Ministry of Interior had previously confirmed that traffic accidents are the silent killer that claims the lives of Yemenis in various governorates, and that their number is constantly increasing.
