A citizen named Mohammed Saleh Al-Zar’i was killed on Sunday as a result of a mine explosion planted by the Houthi militia in the Al-Salan area in the Al-Masloub district in Al-Jawf governorate, according to a tribal source.

The Al-Salan area is one of the areas that witnessed military confrontations between the army and the Houthi militia before the latter took control of it in 2020.

Despite their control over the area, the militia has not removed the mines they planted, making it a deadly trap for local residents.

Al-Jawf Governorate is classified as one of the governorates most affected by mines planted by the Houthi militia, which continue to claim the lives of civilians.

For its part, the MASAM project for mine clearance reported that during the third week of December, it was able to remove more than three thousand mines planted by the militia, bringing the total number of mines removed since mid-2018 to more than half a million mines.
