A citizen confronted a Houthi campaign that was trying to kidnap him by force in one of the towns of Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), in light of the escalation of the state of societal rejection and resistance to the militia in the governorate.

Local sources said that citizen Naif Taher Al-Uthmani clashed yesterday, Wednesday, with a Houthi campaign that surrounded his house in the “Kitab” area in the Yarim District, north of Ibb.

The sources added that the Houthi campaign, consisting of armed crews and elements, surrounded Al-Uthmani's house and opened heavy fire on it, which led to his youngest son sustaining serious injuries, and he later died in the hospital.

The sources stated that Al-Othmani confronted the Houthi campaign that was trying to kidnap him by force - on the basis of a previous case - and exchanged fire with the campaign members, which led to the killing of two Houthi elements, before he fled.

The sources indicated that the Houthi militia later carried out a kidnapping campaign that targeted a number of members of the Al-Othmani family, and also vandalized and looted the contents of his home and property, including a Prado car.

The sources confirmed that the residents of the area and Al-Uthmani's neighbors prevented the militia from blowing up his house after it had brought the explosives team to the area.

The incident highlights the state of popular discontent and the escalation of societal rejection and resistance to the crimes and violations committed by the militia against civilians in the governorate under its control.

In the face of the ongoing Houthi violations, Ibb Governorate witnesses, from time to time, community resistance and popular protests, in addition to many armed confrontations between the militia and the population that take place in various districts of the governorate.
