Shabwa: A woman killed and another injured in an armed ambush in Nisab District

A woman was killed and another was injured in an ambush set up by tribal gunmen by mistake in Wadi Jabah in the Nisab district of Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen.

Local sources said that a citizen from the Al Hussein bin Suhail Al Maraziq tribe was driving his private car last night in Wadi Jabah in the Nisab district, returning from Ataq with his wife and a slave girl.

The sources added that the citizen was surprised by gunmen firing a hail of bullets at the car, which resulted in the immediate death of the mother and the serious injury of the wife, who was transferred to the city of Mukalla to receive treatment and the car was repaired.

The sources explained that "the gunmen, who belong to the Al Jazea Al Maraziq tribe, targeted other gunmen from the Al Marfad tribe, with whom they have been at war for years as a result of an old tribal vendetta."

She pointed out that "following the incident, Al Hussein bin Suhail militants carried out an armed attack on Al Jazea, and violent clashes erupted between the two parties in which various types of weapons were used."

The sources pointed out that tribal mediation by a number of figures and dignitaries led to a truce between the two parties for a week and the receipt of hostages from them.
