Tribal clashes erupted in a town in Shabwa Governorate (southeast Yemen), which has witnessed an increase in tribal conflicts since the Transitional Council forces took control of the governorate in August 2022.

Local sources said that armed clashes broke out on Friday between the tribes of (Al Saleh bin Hussein) and (Al Haidera Al Maraziq) in the Al Fara’a area in the Nisab district, west of Shabwa.

The sources added that the clashes, in which various types of weapons were used, broke out following a dispute between the two sides over the ownership of Saqiya.

The sources indicated that the clashes continued for hours without any intervention from the authorities, before tribal mediation succeeded in stopping them later.

Shabwa Governorate, which is under the control of the Transitional Council formations, is witnessing a worrying escalation in tribal conflicts, amid accusations against the local authority and the security and military forces affiliated with the Transitional Council of not taking any measures to limit this growing phenomenon.
