Two students were killed and three others were injured during a live ammunition exercise carried out by the Houthi militia in the Al-Hawban area, east of Taiz, in which private university students were forced to participate.

Informed sources said that during the past weeks, the Houthi militia forced students of private universities, institutes and colleges in the Al-Hawban/Taiz area to participate in a military course under the deceptive name "Al-Aqsa Flood", and last Thursday forced them to carry out a maneuver with live ammunition.

The sources added that during the maneuver, two students were killed and three others were seriously injured, amidst extreme secrecy by the militia.

The militia's media outlets said that the group's university student forum and mobilization officials organized a march and military maneuver on Thursday for graduates of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" courses from students at the University of Science and Technology and Al-Hikma University in Al-Hawban.

She stated that the march started from the Al-Hawban area and reached the Al-Manshour area. The participating students also carried out a maneuver during which they demonstrated what she called “the skills they received during the courses in the use of light and medium weapons, defense, attack, camouflage, concealment, and other combat knowledge.”

During the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the militia's initiation of attacks on ships in the Red Sea, the group launched compulsory military courses in all universities, institutes and schools in the various governorates under its control, and trained teachers and students on the use of weapons, in addition to intensive mobilization lectures.

The militia concludes the program with field maneuvers simulating battles, and a number of people have been killed and wounded in these maneuvers over the past months.
