Socotra: Yemen Youth Net - Special
A civilian was injured during clashes between elements affiliated with the formations of the Transitional Council, supported by the UAE, in the Yemeni province of Socotra Archipelago.
A local source confirmed to "Yemeni Youth Net" that the young man, "Salem Ayad Al-Suqatri", was injured the day before yesterday, Wednesday, during clashes between elements affiliated with the Security Belt factions in Hadibu District, the center of Socotra Governorate.
The source added that the young man, Salem Al-Suqatri, was hit by a stray bullet while on his way to Fajr prayer in the mosque, during clashes between the Transitional Council factions, which also resulted in the injury of a member of the Security Belt.
He explained that the clashes erupted between an armed group from the Security Belt led by Mohammed Farehi and gunmen belonging to one of the Transitional Council factions, against the backdrop of preventing the entry of qat into the archipelago.
The source pointed out that these incidents are repeated from time to time between the security belt elements who claim to implement the decision of Governor Raafat Al-Thaqali to prevent the entry of qat into the island, and the groups to which qat sellers pay sums of money in order to protect their goods.
Last September, the governor, Al-Thaqali, who is loyal to the Transitional Council, issued an administrative order prohibiting the entry of the qat plant into Socotra.
