Mass protests demanding the settlement of the conditions of teachers and employees of government institutions and the improvement of their wages continued in Taiz Governorate (southwest of Yemen).

A correspondent for "Yemeni Youth Net" said that hundreds of teachers, academics, government employees, and members of labor and professional unions gathered today, Sunday, in Jamal Street in the center of Taiz city, denouncing the legitimate government's disregard for the demands of teachers and educators.

He stated that the protesters demanded in the statement of the stand, the return of the Presidential Council, the government and the parliament to the homeland and to begin their work from within, and to receive their salaries in the national currency, so that they can prove to the people that they are part of it.

The demonstrators also demanded stopping the collapse and deterioration of the national currency, improving the living conditions of employees, workers and citizens, reforming the wage scale in line with the living conditions and returning the actual value of salaries to what they were before 2014.

The protesters stressed the need to deliver bonuses and all allowances to new employees that have not been delivered since 2011, deliver the salaries of the displaced that have been cut off, and approve the fourth and fifth installments of them.

The protesters also demanded the delivery of the delayed salaries of Taiz Governorate employees for the year 2017, which have not been delivered yet. They also demanded the financial impact of allowances and promotions to be strengthened, and the release of bonus differences for all employees that have not been delivered since 2012, at a value that is commensurate with the high cost of living we are experiencing today.

The protesters stressed the need to address the issue of housing rents that have burdened employees and citizens, provide basic services such as electricity, water and health insurance, unify the factions of the National Army, and pay the salaries of the army and security in the national currency so that everyone feels a sense of belonging to the homeland and defending it, and work to end the Houthi coup and liberate the rest of the governorates from the Houthi militias affiliated with Iran.

At the end of their statement, the protesters stressed the continuation of the strike, the continuation of the peaceful struggle, and the use of all peaceful means until their demands are met, hoping that the Presidential Council and the legitimate government will quickly find radical solutions to save the country and its citizens from collapse.
