Security statistics: 380 people killed and injured in traffic accidents last month

A security statistic reported on Sunday that 380 people were killed and injured in traffic accidents in areas under the control of the internationally recognized Yemeni government during last January.
The Security Media website of the Ministry of Interior stated that the liberated areas witnessed 412 traffic accidents during last January, which resulted in the death of 49 people and the injury of 331 others, 207 of whom were seriously injured, while the material losses amounted to 377 million and 100 thousand riyals.
He explained that the accidents were distributed between 253 vehicle collisions, 103 pedestrian run-over accidents, 39 vehicle rollover accidents, 9 collisions with a fixed object, 7 falling from a vehicle, in addition to a vehicle running accident.
The statistics attributed the causes of traffic accidents to violating traffic rules and regulations by exceeding the specified speed, wrong and dangerous overtaking, being distracted by things other than the road, driving while tired and exhausted, children and people with modest experience driving vehicles, ignoring traffic instructions, neglecting periodic maintenance of the vehicle, reckless driving of motorcycles, neglecting pedestrians when crossing the roads, in addition to road damage.
