Sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that the local authority in Taiz and military leaders in the Giants Brigades moved to end the tension that has been ongoing for days between tribal gunmen and units affiliated with the so-called "National Resistance Forces" in Al-Wazi'iyah, west of the governorate.
A source close to the governor - who preferred not to be named - said, "Nabil Shamsan held a closed meeting on Friday in the city of Turbah with the general managers of the Al-Wazi'iyah and Al-Shamayateen directorates, in the presence of a number of sheikhs and dignitaries of the two directorates, and military leaders."
The source added, "Among the outcomes of the meeting is that the local authority and the commander of the Second Giants Brigade, Hamdi Shukri, will supervise the withdrawal of the armed tribal groups affiliated with "Abu Dhiab Al-Alqami" from their positions in the Al-Wazi'iyah Heights, along with the withdrawal of the military units affiliated with Tariq Saleh."
The source indicated that "arrangements and efforts are underway to end the tension in Al Wazi'iyah District."
Last Monday, armed clashes broke out between armed elements affiliated with Abu Dhiab and Tariq Saleh's forces, after the latter's military crews arrived at the "Al-Dharifa Triangle" east of Al-Wazi'iyah to establish a security point. The exchange of fire continued intermittently until Wednesday, while the tension remains.
