The United Nations announced that it provided cash assistance worth $153 million to those affected by multiple crises in Yemen during the first nine months of this year.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs ( OCHA ) said in its “Humanitarian Update” report, issued on Friday, that humanitarian partners provided $153 million worth of cash assistance and vouchers to families affected by the multiple crises the country is experiencing, during the period from January to September 2024.

The report added that the total number of beneficiaries of cash assistance reached two million people, which enabled them to "meet their various basic needs, including food, water, sanitation, shelter and medicine, which allows flexibility for families to make their own choices."

OCHA indicated that humanitarian partners will continue to expand cash-based interventions in 2025 as part of the humanitarian needs and response plan.
