The United Nations announced the arrival of new equipment to develop the infrastructure of the port of Aden (southern Yemen) and enhance its operational efficiency, with Japanese funding.
“With funding from the Government of Japan, UNDP has provided a new wireless communications system to improve the efficiency of Aden Container Port,” the UNDP said in a post on its Facebook page on Sunday.
He added that this system will enable faster access to information and seamless integration with the warehouse management system, increase productivity and enhance port operations.
This new equipment comes within the agreement signed by the program with the Japanese government in mid-September to finance the “Enhancing the Efficiency of Aden Port” project, estimated at five million dollars, which aims to improve the operational capacity of the port, in order to “ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of humanitarian and development aid and commercial goods to the Yemeni people.”
