A Yemeni journalist has appealed to the legitimate government authorities to release his brother, who has been detained in Aden for more than a month and a half in the prisons of the Transitional Council forces, which effectively control the city, declared the country's temporary capital.

Journalist Mohammed Al-Samai said in an appeal sent to the Leadership Council, the government, and the Transitional Council on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr that Security Belt forces have been detaining his brother, Nashwan, for about a month and a half at the Al-Shaab camp in Aden.

He added in his appeal, which he posted on his Facebook page, that his brother was arrested while traveling to Aden to obtain a passport for the purpose of performing Umrah.

Journalist Al-Samai reported that the Security Belt Forces arrested his brother on charges of working in the Moral Guidance Department in Sana'a. He explained that his brother has been a civil engineer in the Moral Guidance Department in Sana'a for a quarter of a century and has no connection to any military activity.

He pointed out that his brother had previously been kidnapped by the Houthi militia and spent two years in the prisons of Al-Saleh City in Al-Hawban. After his release, he returned to Sana'a "in search of half a salary after his life options faltered as one of the millions of helpless Yemenis."

While Al-Samai appealed to government authorities to release his brother as a citizen guaranteed freedom of movement anywhere in his country, he called on human rights activists and media professionals to show solidarity with him, support him, and participate in demanding his release.

It is noteworthy that Al-Samai is experiencing a state of grief over the loss of his other brother, Engineer Hashed, who passed away about a week ago.
