The Association of Mothers of Abductees condemned in the strongest terms the death of the abductee Ahmed Ba'alawi, who died under torture in the prisons of the Houthi militia in Saada Governorate, only 18 days after his abduction.

In a statement, the association considered Ba'alawi's death "a heinous crime that reveals the extent of the violations that abductees are subjected to inside Houthi prisons."

The association stressed that the cases of death under torture will not be the last unless there is a real deterrent to the perpetrators of these crimes against civilians, noting that humanitarian and relief workers are being kidnapped and killed under torture, amid complete international silence towards these ongoing violations.

The Association called on local and international parties to give the issue of the kidnapped people the highest priority, and to work to release the detainees and punish those responsible for these crimes, considering this an essential step towards achieving peace in Yemen.

The United Nations announced that its flags would be lowered in various Yemeni governorates, in condemnation of the death of the kidnapped "Ba'alawi" in the Houthi militia prisons in Saada Governorate.

The United Nations also announced the suspension of its work in Saada Governorate in response to this crime.
