A Houthi intelligence agency led by the son of the militia's founder, Ali Hussein al-Houthi, has resumed a new campaign of kidnappings among activists supporting the militia in the capital, Sana'a, against the backdrop of their criticism of the corruption of some Houthi leaders.

Informed sources said that the police intelligence service, led by Ali Hussein al-Houthi, launched a new wave of kidnappings over the past two days, targeting a number of activists who support the militia and who publish harsh criticism of some Houthi leaders on social media from time to time.

The sources added that the militia uses its judicial institutions as a front for some kidnapping cases.

A document - a copy of which was obtained by Yemen Youth Net - shows that a coercive arrest warrant was issued against Mohammed Al-Jarmouzi due to his posts on social media sites in which he criticised some of the militia’s leaders.

Other sources said that Ismail Al-Jarmouzi had also been kidnapped in the past two days under a similar coercive order.

According to Mohammed Al-Jarmouzi, the issuance of forced arrest warrants is part of a systematic campaign against critics on social media. He likened the conditions of the population in Sanaa under the control of the Houthi militia to the conditions of the Palestinians under occupation in the Gaza Strip.

In March of last year, coinciding with the establishment of the new repressive apparatus, the Houthi militia launched a broad campaign led by Ali Hussein al-Houthi, during which it kidnapped dozens of its supporters who were critical of some of its leaders, before releasing them later after subjecting them to severe torture.
