The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate announced, late last night, the release of journalist Fahd Al-Arhabi from the Houthi militia prisons in Amran Governorate (northern Yemen), after six months of his kidnapping.
The union said in a brief statement on its Facebook page that the Houthi authorities released journalist Al-Arhabi on Tuesday evening after 180 days in the security and intelligence detention center in Amran Governorate.
Al-Arhabi's release comes after months of intransigence by the militia's security and intelligence apparatus and its refusal of the Public Prosecution's directives to release him despite the deterioration of his health.
The Houthi militia had re-kidnapped journalist Al-Arhabi on August 21, against the backdrop of a case published earlier about the seizure of lands belonging to the Amran Cement Factory.
It is noteworthy that in 2023, journalist Al-Arhabi was kidnapped and disappeared for more than two months by the Houthi militia, after he was dismissed from his job as a media official at the Amran Cement Factory and all his financial dues were suspended, due to his defense and refusal to seize the factory’s clay quarries in Sana’a Governorate.
