The head of the committee tasked with opening roads in Taiz Governorate, Abdul Karim Shaiban, revealed government efforts to expand the opening hours of the Qasr-Al-Hawban roundabout road linking parts of the city during the month of Ramadan throughout the day.
Since its reopening on June 13 last year, this road has remained open to a limited extent for the passage of small vehicles, excluding trucks, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Shaiban told Yemen Youth Channel that there are efforts to open the road for citizens to move around throughout the day during the month of Ramadan, noting that the times for breakfast and suhoor will be determined as rest times for soldiers at security checkpoints.
But he confirmed that no agreement had been reached with the Houthi militias in this regard, considering that opening the roads was in their hands, noting that communication would be made with the militias to alleviate the suffering of the citizens.
On the other hand, Shaiban condemned the Houthi militia’s refusal to open the truck road that was supposed to be opened on Al-Sitteen Street in Asifrah to facilitate the passage of trucks and the transport of goods and merchandise that the government had unilaterally announced its opening on June 15.
