Media sources said that the State of Kuwait has cancelled recognition of Sana'a University's certificate and banned Kuwaiti students from studying at the university.
According to a decision issued by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education in mid-January, published in the latest issue of the Kuwaiti Official Gazette, the Ministry of Education prohibits enrollment in all programs and academic stages at Sana’a University.
The decision was based on recommendations and outcomes of the Kuwait Accreditation Council regarding universities recognized by the state and whose outcomes are guaranteed.
This comes in light of the Houthi militia's control over the university and public education institutions in the areas under its control.
The Houthis recently tried to restore the university’s function to export the Houthi narrative by amending the curricula, publishing master’s and doctoral theses, cultural courses, and requiring participation in Houthi activities to succeed at the university.
