Abyan police prevented the Public Prosecution from entering the central prison in the province, according to a document submitted by the Security Director, Brigadier General Ali Nasser Boumshaal, to the governor of the province on February 12.
The police accused the Public Prosecution of releasing defendants from the central prison in a manner that violates the law, claiming that some of them were involved in committing crimes.
For its part, the Public Prosecution demanded, in a statement addressed to the Attorney General yesterday, Thursday, that the Director of Security be held accountable, accusing him of committing a series of judicial violations, including obstructing the work of the prosecution and deliberately detaining innocent people or those accused in minor cases.
The prosecution explained that the governorate police prevented it from entering the central prison on February 12, while it was implementing the Attorney General’s directives to release detainees outside the framework of the law, in addition to inmates who had completed three-quarters of their sentences.
