A security force affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the interim capital, Aden (southern Yemen), arrested Sheikh Anis al-Jardami after raiding his home in the city of Buraiqa following his criticism of the STC and its leader, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, on social media.
Media outlets affiliated with the so-called "South Arabian Federation Council," headed by al-Jardami, quoted his family as saying that a security force affiliated with the Security Belt Forces raided Sheikh Anis al-Jardami's home in the Buraiqa district on Tuesday evening, before taking him to the al-Nasr Camp prison, run by Jalal al-Rubaie.
Sheikh Al-Jardami's family reported that the arrest stemmed from audio recordings he posted on WhatsApp groups, which included criticism of the Southern Transitional Council and its leader, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi.
The family demanded his immediate release, urging human rights organizations to intervene to protect freedom of expression and preserve the dignity of citizens in Aden.
It's worth noting that Sheikh Anis Al-Jardami was previously arrested months ago in Lahj Governorate by security forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council. He was charged with belonging to the Houthis, but the charges were later retracted and he was released a few days later.
Al-Jardami posted a video on his Facebook page in which he criticized Aidarous al-Zubaidi, who issued a decision a few days ago to form the so-called "South Arabian Senate Council," which Al-Jardami considered a clone of the council he heads.
