A Houthi activist working in the media mobilization of the militia revealed that he was subjected to severe torture in the Houthi militia prisons in Sana'a during his detention during the past period.

Hussein Al-Amlahi, one of the militia’s most prominent activists on social media, said in a video recording that he was kidnapped by members of his group, due to his criticism on social media of the militia’s finance minister, Abdul-Jabbar Al-Jarmouzi.

Al-Amlahi explained that he was subjected to solitary confinement for about a month, and was also subjected to torture in one of the worst torture places in the Houthi prisons, “Al-Dhaqata,” noting that he was now suffering from the effects of torture and psychological and physical pressure.

Al-Amlahi pointed out that his family suffered greatly during his kidnapping, and he also admitted that his release from prison was through intermediaries.

The incident reveals the militia's intolerance of any other opinion or criticism of its leaders, even if it comes from its activists, and it also sheds light on the state of human rights violations prevailing in the areas under its control.
