Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his country's "readiness" to support efforts to end the conflict in Yemen and achieve development and stability for the Yemeni people.

This came during a meeting with Presidential Council member Aidarous al-Zubaidi, on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, where they discussed efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis, according to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The Iraqi minister expressed his country's "readiness" to provide support within the framework of international efforts to end the conflict in Yemen. He pointed to the direct and indirect effects of the Yemeni crisis on the security and stability of the region.

For his part, Presidential Council member Al-Zubaidi reviewed the political and economic developments in Yemen, and said: "The Presidential Leadership Council is counting on its Arab brothers to play an active role in supporting efforts to establish peace and restore security and stability to our country and the region," according to what was reported by the Transitional Council website.

Iraq has previously made mediation efforts between Iran and Saudi Arabia and held several rounds and direct talks in Baghdad with different levels of representation from both sides, ending with the signing of an agreement between Riyadh and Tehran under Chinese sponsorship on March 10, 2023.
