The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi, stressed Yemen's keenness to strengthen academic partnership with Iraq.

This came during his meeting on Monday with the President of the University of Baghdad, Dr. Bahaa Insaf, stressing Yemen's keenness to expand the horizons of scientific and research cooperation between Yemeni universities and the University of Baghdad, despite the challenges facing the higher education sector in Yemen.

According to Saba News Agency, the meeting discussed ways to develop academic exchange, send postgraduate students, implement joint research projects, and host academic cadres, as part of the efforts made to enhance scientific cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Wasabi listened to an explanation from the President of the University of Baghdad about the structure of the university and its departments, and the conditions of the Yemeni students studying there, in addition to reviewing their academic levels and the specializations they study.

The Minister also held a meeting with the University of Baghdad Council, during which he reviewed the reality of higher education in Yemen and the efforts made by the Ministry to raise the scientific level and improve the outputs of universities despite the difficult circumstances imposed by the Houthi militia coup.

He stressed the depth of scientific and cultural relations between Yemen and Iraq, and the importance of continuing cooperation between educational institutions in the two countries to enhance scientific research and develop university education.
