Informed sources said that the Presidential Leadership Council has bypassed the legal steps to form an anti-corruption body, days after the council announced its intention to form a new body, following massive corruption scandals that shook public opinion.

The Leadership Council disabled the link for the forms for applicants to nominate themselves as members of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, a few days after the link was distributed.

The procedures for forming the Anti-Corruption Commission stipulate the distribution of a link to receive nominations according to certain conditions, followed by the formation of a committee from the Shura Council to nominate 30 people from them, then presenting them to the House of Representatives to choose 11 people who are the full membership of the committee, and the Council approves their appointment and issues their appointment later by law.

According to the sources, the Council suspended the nominations link, suspended the work of the Shura Council Committee, and approved the quota system among its members to appoint the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Leadership Council, which has been living outside the country illegally since its establishment, has prevented the publication of a report by the Central Agency for Control and Accounting, which spoke of the involvement of several parties in corruption worth billions of dollars. It continues to issue secret decisions without publication in the Official Gazette, the number of which has reached more than 25 decisions in just two weeks, to share positions and interests in a corrupt manner.
