Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak affirmed today, Wednesday, the government's keenness to improve conditions and overcome the challenges facing the security services and consider this among its priorities, pointing to its pivotal role in developing resources and economic reforms.
This came during his meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Interior and the general directors of police in the liberated governorates, to discuss the security situation and ways to improve the work of the security services in a way that contributes to reducing crime, combating terrorism and enhancing stability, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
The meeting focused on developing coordination between various security agencies, developing tools to combat terrorism and organised crime, combating smuggling, and assisting the relevant authorities to carry out tasks aimed at controlling economic crimes, including speculation in the national currency and smuggling of foreign currencies, in addition to the needs to raise the efficiency of performance in line with international, regional and domestic challenges and risks.
Ben Mubarak pointed out the pivotal role of the security establishment in the success of the government's five main priorities, as it is impossible to talk about any development of resources or reforms and others without an effective role for the security services, stressing the importance of the security establishment's responsible handling of judicial orders as it is concerned with enforcing and protecting the rule of law.
He stressed the importance of proceeding with implementing reforms in the security sectors, as part of the requirements of the security system, in parallel with developing their capabilities to carry out the duties assigned to them, in a manner that is consistent with the components and requirements of accountability, transparency, and observance of human rights principles.
He pointed out the need to pay attention to training and rehabilitation programmes and improve the conditions of members of the security establishment, regardless of their ranks and levels, directing the Ministry of Public Health and Population to treat members of the security establishment who are injured while performing their national duty at the state’s expense and to provide them with the necessary care, stressing the need to care for the families of martyrs of national duty.
