Ibb: Yemen Youth Net - Special
The tribes of Ibb and the relatives of the murdered Sheikh Sadiq Abu Shaar, who was killed by a Houthi gang in late December, called on the sheikhs and dignitaries of the governorate to hold an urgent meeting next Friday, to take a position regarding the Houthi militia’s internal procrastination in handing over the case file to the prosecution.
This came in a statement by representatives of the Ibb tribes and the Bashar family in the investigation committee (Sheikh Abdul Rabbuh Muhi al-Din, Sheikh Nasr bin Ayed Abu Shaar, and lawyer Dahhan Abdul-Mughni), regarding the developments of the incident that sparked great popular discontent in Ibb Governorate.
The committee members said in the statement - which was viewed by Yemen Youth Net - that the committee formed by the Ministry of Interior - affiliated with the Houthis - and with their participation, completed the investigation into the incident, and it was handed over to the Deputy Minister of Interior, Abdul Majeed Al-Murtada, on Monday, January 20, 2025.
They added that since then, Al-Murtada has been delaying the delivery of the case file with all the accused to the Public Prosecution Office in accordance with the law.
The statement called on the dignitaries and sheikhs of the governorate to meet next Friday, February 7, to discuss the matter and come up with a position on it.
On Monday, November 25, Houthi elements led by the so-called "Alawi Saleh Qaid Al-Amir", appointed by the Houthi militia as director of the Alaya Police Department in the Shamila area, ambushed the tribal sheikh "Sadiq Bashar", who hails from the Ash-Sha'ar District in Ibb Governorate, in the Dar Salam roundabout south of Sana'a, and opened fire on his car, killing him after looting money and personal belongings that were in his possession.
Following that, the tribes of Ibb governorate, who were demanding the arrest of the Sheikh’s killers, were forced to lift their sit-in in Dar Salam in Sana’a after besieging it with dozens of vehicles and threatening to disperse it by force, hours after their sit-in in Al-Sab’een Square was dispersed by force, which prompted them to gather in a closed hall.
In an attempt to absorb the anger of the people of the province, the militia reluctantly agreed to include representatives of the people of the province and the relatives of the victim in the investigation committee, which was delayed in starting its work for weeks, due to the militia’s attempts to dilute the case due to the fact that the gang leader “Alawi Al-Amir” and his brother are related by marriage to the Minister of Interior in the militia authorities “Abdul Karim Al-Houthi.”
Although the militia announced the start of the investigation, it refused to arrest the prince and his brother, and released two of the accused after investigating them, while others are still at large.
