Aden: Yemen Youth Net
Yemeni Minister of Transport, Abdul Salam Hamid, revealed on Tuesday that the terrorist Houthi militias had threatened foreign airlines to prevent them from entering Yemeni airspace except with permits issued by their administration.
This came during a meeting at the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in the interim capital, Aden, to discuss the authority's conditions and workflow, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
According to the agency, Hamid was briefed on the challenges, behaviors and threats practiced by the Houthi militias, which are internationally classified as a terrorist group, against foreign airlines and aircraft of international organizations.
He said that the threats included "informing those companies and organizations not to allow them to enter Yemeni airspace except with permits from the Civil Aviation Authority in Sana'a, which is run by those terrorist militias, the latest of which was the threat to Djibouti Airlines yesterday, February 3, 2025."
He added that these threats are part of the militia's aggressive approach against maritime navigation lines in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Arabian Sea to threaten Yemeni interests and the regional and international community.
The Yemeni Minister of Transport stressed the condemnation and rejection of these threats and the adoption of a set of measures to prevent the recurrence of these aggressive practices against civil aviation activity.
He also stressed that the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, affiliated with the legitimate government in the interim capital, Aden, is the one that has the legal right to issue permits.
Minister Hamid directed to expedite the completion of providing all the needs, devices and equipment for the airports of the liberated areas, especially Aden International Airport, through purchasing through tenders.
