Aden: Yemen Youth Net
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate called on the legitimate government to provide protection to journalist Abdul Raqeeb Al-Hadiani and deter violators of freedom of opinion and expression.
The union said in a statement that it followed the trial session of the cells accused of assassination crimes and the pursuit of a number of figures, including the martyred journalist Zaki Al-Saqladi, who was assassinated in October 2018 in Al-Dhale’ Governorate, and what their confessions before the Criminal Court in Aden included regarding monitoring and pursuing the journalist Abdul-Raqeeb Al-Hadiani with the aim of assassinating him.
The statement highlighted the suffering of colleague Al-Hadiani, who is still displaced and in hiding, fearing the surveillance and persecution to which he has been subjected for years.
He added that the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, while expressing its solidarity with colleague Al-Hadiani, expresses its deep concern about the persecution and threats that the colleague is being subjected to, which put his life in danger, especially after the failure of three assassination attempts he was subjected to, in addition to his name being included in the list of wanted criminal cells.
The union held the security authorities in the governorates of Aden and Al Dhale’e, and the legitimate government responsible for providing protection to the colleague, working to transfer him to a safe place, and compensating for the damage he suffered in his livelihood, work, and stability.
It renewed its call to all parties not to involve journalists in political conflicts and target them because of their opinions, positions and affiliations. It also called on the concerned authorities to take all deterrent measures against enemies of the press, violators of freedom of opinion and expression, and the right to pluralism and diversity.
It also called on all organizations concerned with freedom of opinion and expression to stand in solidarity with colleague Abdul Raqeeb Al-Hadiani and to pressure to end his suffering and provide protection and security for him and all members of his family.
