The Masam project, affiliated with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), removed 551 mines planted by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia in various Yemeni governorates during the third week of March 2025.
The center explained in a statement that the removed mines included 35 anti-tank mines, 513 unexploded ordnance, and four explosive devices, bringing the total number of mines removed since the beginning of the month to 2,158.
The statement indicated that the total number of mines removed by the project since its launch has reached 485,501. These mines had been randomly planted in residential areas, roads, and farms, threatening the lives of civilians and hindering their return to their homes.
The MASAM project, with support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, continues its efforts to clear Yemeni lands of the dangers of mines, as part of its humanitarian efforts to protect civilian lives and restore safety to affected areas.
A human rights report revealed that approximately 10,000 civilians in Yemen have been killed and injured by mines planted by the Houthi militia in several Yemeni governorates since its coup against the state in September 2014.
