US warplanes launched several airstrikes early Sunday morning against Iranian-backed Houthi positions in their stronghold in Saada Governorate, northern Yemen.

Houthi media reported that US warplanes launched several airstrikes—without specifying which ones—in the Sahar and Kitaf districts of Saada, without providing further details.

Defense Line, a platform focused on security and military affairs, reported that US airstrikes targeted Houthi barracks and positions early Sunday morning in various areas of Sahar district, west of Saada city, and Kitaf district, east of the governorate.

In another post on the X platform, she added that violent explosions occurred at the targeted sites, suggesting that weapons depots were targeted.

The US attack on Saada coincided with other attacks targeting militia sites in the port of Salif and the airport in Hodeidah (western Yemen).

Earlier last night, US airstrikes targeted militia positions in Hodeidah and Marib. Informed sources reported that the raids in the latter resulted in the deaths of several militia leaders.

Last Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered his country's military to launch a "major offensive" against the Houthi group in Yemen, before threatening to "completely eliminate the Houthis."

On Friday, the American website Politico reported that the United States had deployed a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, a rare move as the Trump administration intensifies its bombing campaign against Houthi fighters in Yemen.

The website also quoted defense officials as saying that US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordered the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, currently operating in the Red Sea, to extend its deployment for at least a month.
