Yemeni government threatens to return to military option to end Houthi coup

Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Shaye Al-Zindani, hinted today, Sunday, at the possibility of the internationally recognized government returning to the military option to end the rebellion and coup of the terrorist Houthi militia.

This came during his speech at the opening session of the third edition of the Yemen International Forum 2025, organized by the Sana'a Center for Strategic Studies in the Jordanian capital, Amman, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' account on the X platform.

Al-Zindani said: “With the war continuing in our country for nearly ten years, the political, security, economic, social and humanitarian conditions are witnessing an unprecedented deterioration in the lives of our people in decades, due to the coup carried out by the Houthi militias supported by Iran against the legitimate authority, the impact of which extended to threatening international security and peace in the region, in addition to threatening the security of maritime navigation and freedom of global trade.”

He added: "Human experiences and political history have taught us that victory for the rights, freedom and dignity of peoples requires great sacrifices, and that rebellious and oppressive forces do not understand the language of peace."

The Foreign Minister stressed that "despite our commitment to pursuing peace as a basic option, this does not mean abandoning the tools of force to end the rebellion and coup."

He added: "With all due respect to all calls for a political solution, it has become necessary today to pursue all possible options that ensure the restoration of state authority in areas under the control of the Houthi militias."

The third edition of the Yemen International Forum was launched today in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the title: (Dialogue for a Stable Yemen and a Secure Region). Over the course of three days, the Yemeni crisis will be discussed and the various paths leading to a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace will be explored, with the participation of a number of diplomatic figures and international experts.
