Yemen Youth - Follow-ups
A number of leaders of national political action held meetings in the Belgian capital, Brussels, with leaders of the European Union, during which they discussed developments in the national and regional arenas, and ways to develop European-Yemeni relations.
The consultation round included extensive meetings with the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, the EU's Directorate for International Partnerships, the Middle East Working Group of the Council of the European Union, and finally a meeting with the European External Action Service, Yemen Affairs Division.
European officials stressed the EU's position in support of the legitimate government and strengthening its political cohesion, and their categorical rejection of the behavior of the Houthi militia in threatening the freedom of international navigation.
For its part, the Yemeni leadership stressed that regional circumstances and developments now require developing joint relations from the humanitarian and diplomatic level to the geopolitical and developmental level.
They explained that what unites the European Union and the Yemeni legitimacy system is not limited to common interests only, but also includes the principles related to pluralism and democracy, which requires coordinating joint action to limit the threat of the terrorist Houthi militia and its violations against the Yemeni people.
It is worth noting that the Yemeni delegation included: Member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Congregation for Reform and Head of the Party’s Parliamentary Bloc, MP Abdul Razzaq Al-Hijri, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Socialist Party, Abdul Rahman Al-Saqqaf, Secretary-General of the Nasserite Popular Unionist Organization, Abdullah Noman, Assistant Secretary-General of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance, Abdullah Abu Horiya, and Head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the General People’s Congress, Abdul Wahab Muawwadah.
