Yemenis in Russia appeal for repatriation after falling victim to recruitment gang in Oman
Political| 28 September, 2024 - 6:05 PM
Yemeni youths have made an urgent appeal to the Yemeni government, the Yemeni embassy in Russia, and the relevant authorities to rescue them and return them to Yemen after they fell victim to a recruitment gang in the Sultanate of Oman working to attract mercenaries and send them to fight in the ranks of the Russian army in the war with Ukraine.
According to the information provided by the young men, they were working in restaurants and private companies in Amman before they were lured by a gang operating under the name of “Al-Jabri Company”, which lured them to go to Russia to work in the field of security guarding and private work, in exchange for $10,000 upon arrival and a monthly salary of $2,500.

The young men added that upon their arrival in Russia, they were received by Russian army officers and taken to a camp to receive military training, noting that the amount they receive monthly is estimated at about $260.
The young men expressed their fears of being forced to fight in the ranks of the Russian army, noting that a previous batch of 24 Yemeni recruits was sent to fight against Ukraine, and all of its members were killed in battle.
The young men confirmed that the Russian officers in the camp might come at any moment to force them to participate in the fighting fronts, calling on the Yemeni authorities to intervene quickly to save them before more casualties occur.
Yemenis went to Russia to fight against Ukraine for a salary in dollars. But when they discovered that the war was real and not just an easy adventure, they started posting videos asking to return to Yemen, appealing to President Al-Alimi to intervene.
