Today, the city of Marib commemorated the 77th anniversary of the Constitutional Revolution that erupted against the priestly Imamate rule on February 17, 1948, in an artistic and rhetorical event organized by the Ahfad Al-Qardaei Movement, in honor of the march of the martyred revolutionary Ali Nasser Al-Qardaei, who launched the first spark of the revolution, and coinciding with the publication of his poetry collection.

During the event, which was attended by the Deputy Governor of Marib, Mohammed Al-Muawadhi, the Deputy Governor, Ali Al-Fatemi, confirmed that Al-Qardaei and his companions carried the aspirations of a people who reject slavery and priestly rule, and his bullets against the tyrant were the first spark that stirred the stagnant waters, paving the way for the 1955 revolution in Taiz, the tribal uprising in 1959, and leading to the victory of the glorious September 26 Revolution.

Al-Fatimi added: "The Imamate is trying to return today with Iranian support, but it will not succeed, as the spirit of Al-Qardaei has become in the heart of every Yemeni, and the national army and the free people will continue the struggle to achieve the goals of the revolution."

For his part, the head of the Ahfad Al-Qardaei Movement, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Qardaei, delivered a welcoming speech, in which he stressed that Al-Qardaei’s heroism and courage in igniting the Constitutional Revolution constituted an epic struggle that inspired generations with the meanings of struggle and sacrifice for the sake of freedom and emancipation from the projects of darkness and slavery.

The ceremony, which was attended by a number of military and security leaders, witnessed speeches that shed light on attempts to obliterate Al-Qardaei’s revolutionary identity and diminish his pioneering role in overthrowing the Imamate regime.

The speakers also reviewed the suffering of the Yemeni people under the authority of the Imamate priesthood, stressing that the revolution was the only way to get rid of injustice and tyranny, and to establish the values of justice, equality and freedom.

The ceremony included the presentation of poems and artistic performances that expressed the spirit of the revolution and inspired the attendees, in a festive atmosphere that embodied the historical extension of the Yemeni people’s struggle in the face of tyranny.
