The Turkish Religious Foundation launched a relief campaign in Yemen under the slogan “The Believers Are But Brothers” to support families in need and affected by the war in the country.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency on Tuesday, the coordinator of the Waqf office in Yemen, Muhammad Alkan, explained that the Waqf has been continuing its relief activities since the first day of Ramadan in various Yemeni cities.
He added that the relief aid activities are carried out by the endowment with Yemeni volunteers to meet the basic needs of families in the cities of Marib, Hadhramaut, Aden, Taiz, Abyan, Shabwa and others.
Alkan stated that food and clothing aid will benefit 7,750 Yemeni families, equivalent to 38,750 people, throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
He pointed out that the endowment, in addition to food aid, will bring joy and happiness to the hearts of children by distributing Eid clothes to thousands of them.
This year, Ramadan comes amid a relative calm in the country since April 2022, after a war that has been ongoing for about 10 years between forces loyal to the legitimate government and the Houthi group, which has controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several other cities since September 21, 2014.
The conflict has left behind tragic humanitarian conditions, making Yemen suffer from one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, according to United Nations reports.
