Human rights report documents 692 Houthi violations against civilians in Sana’a during 2024

A human rights report documented the terrorist Houthi militias committing 692 violations against societal groups in Sana'a during 2024, including 477 men, 21 women, and 15 children under the legal age who were subjected to all kinds of oppression, arbitrariness, and humiliation at the hands of the Houthis.
The violations monitored by the De Yemen Organization for Rights and Development against civilians in Sana’a varied between illegal trials in about 192 cases, arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance in 133 cases, 30 attacks against civilians, 17 cases of looting and attacks on private property, and 9 incidents of job abuse.
The report documented 31 violations against the education sector in Sana'a, 40 violations against the private sector, in addition to 17 violations against mosques, 15 violations against civil society organizations, and 35 others against public freedoms.
According to the report, the violations included all Sana'a directorates, with Al-Sab'een directorate topping the list with 239 violations, followed by Al-Wahda directorate with 49 cases, then Ma'in directorate with about 35 violations, Al-Tahrir directorate with 31 violations, Al-Thawra with 29 violations, and Shu'ub directorate with 27 violations.
The report monitored 53 cases of violations against civilians in the directorates of Bani Al-Harith, Al-Safiyah, Old Sana'a, and Azal, in addition to monitoring about 80 cases of violations that were not classified within any directorate in Sana'a.
The human rights organization called for the necessity of opening a transparent and urgent investigation into all cases of human rights violations and holding all those involved politically, legally and criminally accountable, in accordance with international charters and agreements and the rules of international humanitarian law.
Calling on all active organizations concerned with human rights to take firm positions, pressure the Houthi group to stop its violations against Yemenis in Sana’a and all areas under its control, and immediately release those who have been forcibly disappeared.
