Hamas welcomes Arab summit plan to rebuild Gaza and consensus rejecting displacement

On Tuesday, Hamas welcomed the Gaza reconstruction plan, which was adopted by the Arab Summit in its final statement, and called for providing all the elements for its success, and appreciated the words of the Arab leaders.

The movement said in a statement, "We appreciate the words of the leaders and chiefs at the extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo, which all stressed the rejection of the occupation's plans to displace our people, the rejection of annexation and settlement projects, and the support of our people's legitimate rights to freedom and self-determination."

She considered that "holding the Arab Summit today inaugurates an advanced stage of Arab and Islamic alignment with the just Palestinian cause."

The statement stressed that our people, supported by a unified Arab position, are capable of thwarting attempts at displacement, annexation and settlement. It continued, "We welcome the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted by the Arab Summit and call for providing all the elements for its success."

The statement also said, "The Arab Summit's call to implement the ceasefire agreement is political support for our people and pressure on the entity to prevent it from changing the agreement. We stress the need to oblige the criminal enemy to respect its commitments under the ceasefire agreement."

Hamas called for "taking unified Arab steps to force the occupation to implement the terms of the agreement and pressure to bring in aid, and to pressure the occupation to begin the second phase negotiations and move forward in implementing the agreement."

She also welcomed what was stated in the Arab Summit statement regarding building Palestinian national institutions "to express the aspirations of our people. The aspirations of our people are achieved through holding legislative and presidential elections as soon as possible."

Hamas' statement called on Arab countries to "continue to support the steadfastness of our Palestinian people in confronting the criminal enemy, and to confront the enemy's expansionist ambitions and plans for domination at the expense of Palestine and the countries of the region and their peoples."
