The Catalan team's last La Liga loss was against Atletico Madrid, 1-2, on December 21, when the Rojiblancos snatched the top spot from the Blaugrana.
Barcelona are still competing on the continental stage, having reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Borussia Dortmund, while Atletico Madrid were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Real Madrid on penalties.
Diego Simeone's team now has only one remaining option: the La Liga title, which has been absent since the 2020-21 season, and the Copa del Rey since 2013. The team drew 4-4 with Barcelona in the first leg of the semi-final, and will meet again at the Metropolitano on April 2.
Atletico Madrid lost a La Liga match despite leading by two goals for the first time since November 2007 against Villarreal.
