New signing Dani Olmo puts Barcelona on top of La Liga
Barcelona turned a one-goal deficit into a 2-1 win over host Rayo Vallecano in their home ground on Tuesday evening, in the second round of the Spanish Football League.
The home side took an early lead through midfielder Unai Lopez after just eight minutes.
The Catalan team responded in kind by scoring two consecutive goals, the first scored by Spanish midfielder Pedri in the 59th minute, and then his teammate, new striker Dani Olmo, snatched the lead in the 82nd minute of the match, scoring his first goal with the "Blaugrana" jersey in his first match.
Barcelona achieved its third consecutive victory, raising its score to 9 points, and occupying first place in the La Liga standings.
On the other hand, Rayo Vallecano suffered its first defeat, after a win and a draw, respectively, so its score stopped at 4 points, and it occupies the eighth place in the standings so far.
Sevilla continue their stumbling start
Sevilla continued their stumbling start in the Spanish League with a goalless draw against host Mallorca in the first match of the third round on Tuesday evening.
The match witnessed the exclusion of Sevilla player Saul Niguez in the last moments of regular time, and dangerous attempts were present, but the opportunities did not translate into goals, so Sevilla and Mallorca continued to fail to achieve their first victory this season for the third round in a row, after they had achieved a single point in the first two rounds.
