Real Madrid won the 2024 Intercontinental Cup after defeating Mexico's Pachuca 3-0 on Wednesday evening at Lusail World Cup Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha.

French star Kylian Mbappe gave Real Madrid the lead in the 37th minute after a beautiful pass from Brazilian Vinicius Junior, bringing back memories of the historic final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup on the same field exactly two years ago, when Mbappe scored three goals against Argentina on the same field (3-3) where Lionel Messi and his teammates were crowned champions after winning the penalty shootout (4-2).

Brazilian Rodrygo doubled Real Madrid's lead in the 53rd minute with a wonderful right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area, putting it out of the reach of Carlos Moreno, Batushka's goalkeeper.

Vinicius Junior, who won the FIFA Best Player award in Doha yesterday, concluded the result for the royal team by scoring the third goal from a penalty kick in the 84th minute of the match.
