Alaves fans raise red card to Israel in solidarity with Palestine
Alaves fans raised red cards for Israel, as part of the "Show Israel the Red Card" initiative in support of Palestine in more than 30 countries around the world.
The protest came during a La Liga match, as part of a global initiative to express their condemnation of the genocide committed in Gaza for more than 15 months.
On Saturday evening, Mendizorroza Stadium in Vitoria-Gasteiz hosted the match between Alaves and Espanyol in the 25th round of the Spanish League, which ended with the guest team defeating Alaves 1-0.
Thousands of Alaves fans raised Palestinian flags, expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people, and chanted slogans in the stands calling for preventing Israel from participating in international football competitions.

The issuance of red cards in football competitions in many European and international leagues comes as part of an initiative by the Scottish Celtic Club fans group (the Green Brigade).
The group is organising pro-Palestine protests in more than 30 countries around the world, during matches in many countries, including Scotland, Spain, Chile, Turkey, Italy, Indonesia and Belgium.
The group stresses in the initiative the keenness to raise banners that read, "Show Israel the red card."
