A Hamas official said Sunday that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has agreed to a list of 34 prisoners presented by Israel for exchange as part of a possible ceasefire agreement.

The Houthi threat, its remoteness, its wide-ranging and destabilizing impact in the Middle East, and Yemen’s strategic location along a major international shipping route, complicate any potential Israeli response, especially if taken unilaterally.

The attacks by the Iranian-backed Iraqi armed factions against Israel have stopped for more than a month, raising the question of whether the decision to stop was strategic or whether external pressures forced them to stop based on national interests.

Israel is mobilizing for a new front in Yemen against the Houthis, knowing that it cannot launch attacks alone without US military support. The Washington Post reported that “Israel is preparing for a new front against the Houthis in Yemen, which means another chapter in a war that continues to expand.”

The American press considered Israel's focus on the Houthis a "bold shift," even though the missiles targeting Tel Aviv from the Iranian-backed group avoid causing casualties or widespread retaliation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israeli attacks on civilian facilities in Yemen, hours after a fourth round of Israeli airstrikes on Thursday on Sanaa International Airport, Red Sea ports and power stations in Hodeidah.
