The Israeli Air Force launched a raid on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, without prior warning, and carried out strikes - described as the most violent since the beginning of the war - on the southern suburb, at a time when the Israeli Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Army approved the continuation of offensive operations on the northern front, despite talk of a possible ceasefire.

The Israeli army announced that it is extensively attacking Hezbollah military targets in Beirut and in the Litani River area in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military said it was attacking Hezbollah targets in the Beirut area on a large scale. An explosion was heard in the Lebanese capital. A resident of the Basta al-Fawqa neighborhood in central Beirut said an airstrike had taken place near that area.

For its part, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 3 people were killed and 26 others were injured in the Israeli raid on the Nuwairi area.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported the collapse of a building following an Israeli airstrike targeting the vicinity of the Khatam al-Anbiya complex in the Nuwairi area of Beirut.

The National News Agency reported that "a very violent raid was carried out by enemy warplanes, targeting a building near the Khatam al-Anbiya Mosque in al-Nuwairi in Beirut and completely destroying it." It noted that the building had four floors and was housing displaced people.

broad attack

Israeli Army Radio reported that a final, large-scale air attack is expected in the coming hours on Hezbollah's infrastructure in the suburb.

A short while ago, the Israeli Army Radio reported that Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi approved the continuation of offensive operations on the northern front.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced in a statement that the Israeli raids on the towns of Srifa and Bazourieh in the Tyre district in the south of the country resulted in the injury of 7 people.

For its part, the Lebanese News Agency said that the Israeli warplanes launched raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting the areas of Burj al-Barajneh, al-Raml al-Ali, and Tahwitat al-Ghadeer.

She added that the Israeli warplanes renewed their air strikes, targeting for the second time today the town of Arnoun in the Nabatieh district.

She added that the eastern neighborhood in Jdeidet Marjeyoun, south Lebanon, was subjected to Israeli artillery shelling, while warplanes launched a violent raid on Hosh Tyre and targeted residential neighborhoods.

The agency reported that the Israeli army continued bombing operations in the town of Khiam, and that warplanes also raided the town.

The Israeli army issued warnings to bomb 20 buildings in Hadath, Haret Hreik and Burj al-Barajneh in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The army said in a statement that its forces "attacked several terrorist targets, engaged the terrorists at close range, and found and destroyed dozens of platforms, thousands of missiles, projectiles and weapons caches hidden on a mountainside."

Litani River

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army announced that its forces had reached the Litani River in southern Lebanon. Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on the "X" website pictures of what he said was the arrival of Israeli forces to the Litani River.

Hezbollah attacks

For its part, Hezbollah announced that it had bombarded the settlement of Kiryat Shmona with a barrage of high-quality missiles. The party said that it had destroyed a tank near the municipality of Khiyam, killing and wounding its crew, and attacked Israeli sites with drones and missiles.

Channel 14 reported that missiles launched from Lebanon directly targeted two sites in Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that authorities were dealing with a gas leak from a building that was severely damaged following the recent shelling of Kiryat Shmona, while Channel 12 reported that five rockets were fired at the settlement, causing damage to several buildings.

Hezbollah also said that it attacked the Ma'ale Golani barracks and the Habushit site on the summit of Mount Hermon in the occupied Golan Heights with a squadron of suicide drones, and targeted a gathering of Israeli occupation forces in the Avivim settlement with missiles.

Earlier, sirens sounded in several settlements in the Upper Galilee, including Yaron and Avivim. Early Tuesday, three people were injured and a building was damaged by rockets fired by Hezbollah in Nahariya.
