Sharaa is the President of Syria.. Announcing the dissolution of the Baath Party, the regime’s army, the People’s Assembly, and the suspension of the constitution

The leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa, chaired an expanded meeting of military and revolutionary factions at the People's Palace in Damascus today, Wednesday, where it was decided that al-Sharaa would assume the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic in the transitional phase.

The spokesman for the Military Operations Department, Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, delivered a statement called “Statement Declaring the Victory of the Syrian Revolution,” in which he said:

• We, in the Military Operations Department, congratulate our great Syrian people on the victory of their blessed revolution, which constitutes the legitimacy speaking in their name.
• We declare the victory of the great Syrian revolution, and consider the eighth of December of each year a national day.
• We declare the dissolution of the People's Assembly formed during the time of the defunct regime, and the committees emanating from it.
• We announce the dissolution of the army of the defunct regime, and the rebuilding of the Syrian army on national foundations.
• We announce the dissolution of all security agencies affiliated with the former regime, with their various branches and names, and all the militias it established, and the formation of a new security institution to preserve the security of citizens.
• We declare the dissolution of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, the parties of the National Progressive Front, and all affiliated organizations, institutions, and committees. It is prohibited to reconstitute them under any other name, and all their assets must return to the Syrian state.
• All military factions, political and civil revolutionary bodies shall be dissolved and integrated into the state institutions.
• We announce the assumption of Mr. Leader Ahmed Al-Shara’ as the President of the country in the transitional phase, and he will carry out the duties of the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, and represent it in international forums.

In a speech following the meeting, Al-Shara said, "Syria's priorities are to fill the power vacuum, maintain peace, build state institutions, and work on an economic structure."

He added, "Just as we were determined in the past to liberate Syria, the duty is to be determined to build and develop it."

He added, "Thanks to God, we broke the chains, the tortured were freed, and we removed the dust of humiliation and disgrace from the shoulders of the Levant. Thus, the great victory was achieved... Victory is a task in itself, for the mission of the victors is heavy and their responsibility is great."

He also stressed that the common characteristic of war is destruction and bloodshed, but Syria's victory has been achieved and is full of mercy and justice, according to his expression.
