On Monday evening, the Israeli occupation air force launched a series of airstrikes targeting military sites belonging to the army of the ousted Bashar al-Assad regime in the northern countryside of Daraa, according to local and media sources.

The raids came amid intense flights of warplanes over the province, which raised a state of anxiety among civilians. Sources from the southern province said, "The raids targeted observation platforms and tanks in the barracks of the 89th Regiment in the Jabab area, in addition to weapons depots in the 12th Brigade near the city of Izraa."

The same sources confirmed that the targeted points are strategic positions that were used by the forces of the former Syrian regime, noting the presence of advanced military equipment in those locations, according to what was reported by the newspaper "Al-Araby Al-Jadeed".

"We heard the explosions coming from the direction of the barracks," said local activist Ahmed Al-Masalma from Daraa. "The raids this time were violent and sudden, especially with the planes continuing to fly for hours."

For his part, citizen Fares Al-Hariri said: “Civilians here live in constant fear of an unprecedented escalation, as we have become an arena for settling regional scores,” considering what happened to be “an Israeli response to the agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF.”

The Syrian presidency announced today, Monday, the signing of an agreement stipulating the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the institutions of the Syrian state, and emphasizing the unity of Syrian territory and rejecting division.

The announcement came after a meeting between Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi in Damascus, putting an end to a potential conflict between the two sides that has been the subject of much speculation about the intentions of the Kurdish force that has controlled eastern and parts of northern Syria since the early years of the Syrian revolution.

In turn, citizen Hisham Al-Masry linked the timing of the bombing to the concluded agreement, indicating that it was "an Israeli retaliatory response aimed at undermining alliances that could strengthen the position of the Syrian state." He considered the raids "part of a recurring Israeli policy to strike any peace agreement in Syria."

These raids are a continuation of a series of Israeli strikes against military sites in southern Syria, after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, which Israel often hides behind "security pretexts" to carry out.
