Traffic accidents killed or injured 66 people in areas under the control of the internationally recognized Yemeni government during the first week of March.
The Ministry of Interior's Security Media website reported in a traffic report released Tuesday that 66 people were killed or injured in 79 traffic accidents across liberated areas during the first week of March.
He added that these accidents claimed the lives of 12 people, while 54 others sustained injuries of varying severity, including 34 whose injuries were described as "serious." The resulting material losses amounted to 17.9 million riyals.
He stated that traffic accidents included 41 vehicle collisions, 20 pedestrian run-overs, 12 rollover accidents, 3 collisions with fixed objects, and 3 falls from vehicles.
The statistics attributed these accidents to violations of traffic rules and regulations, including speeding, dangerous overtaking, distraction from the road, driving while tired and exhausted, ignoring traffic signals and instructions, neglecting vehicle maintenance, reckless motorcycle driving, and neglecting pedestrians when crossing roads.
